Disney World Epcot

As I write this, J and I have just returned from an amazing family holiday to Florida. We spent most of our time exploring the wonders of Disney World including Magic Kingdom, Animal Kingdom, Epcot, Hollywood Studios, Blizzard Beach and Disney Springs which has given us incredible memories to treasure forever.

We were lucky enough to visit Epcot during the Flower and Garden Festival. This meant that there were extra parks, displays and attractions which we really enjoyed. Epcot is the park that felt the most spacious and is definitely the most beautiful with floral displays everywhere and a large lake in the middle. J loved having the extra space to run around and stretch his legs. I definitely think that the Flower and Garden Festival enhanced a visit to Epcot.

Animal Kingdom was the Disney park I was most excited about visiting before we left home. Partly because it is the only one I haven’t been to before and I was looking forward to seeing how Disney does zoos, but mostly because J absolutely loves animals. He has always been a wildlife lover and I couldn’t wait to take him on the Animal Kingdom safari as I knew he would be over the moon to see all the African animals, especially his favourites – rhinos and crocodiles.

Fabulous Fun and Fantasy at Magic Kingdom

The Magic Kingdom is where dreams really do come true. We chose this park as our first Disney experience for J as hubby and I have both been there before and J was really excited about going to see Mickey’s Castle (he has no idea who Cinderella is.) The arrival at the park is perfectly staged to build the excitement levels. We drove, so we parked the car and then caught the Disney tram to the first entrance. Once we were through security we had a choice of travelling by monorail or boat to the Magic Kingdom. For transport mad J, this was all part of the adventure. J got a great first view of the eye catching castle across the lake and as it got closer he was already captured by the Disney magic.

Disney Preparations – Things to get you holiday ready

I had always said that I wouldn’t take J to Disney until I felt he was old enough to really appreciate the Disney experience. In my head this was probably about 6 or 7. However, when an opportunity that was too good to refuse presented itself, I decided that a holiday in Florida would be amazing and if Disney worked out then that would be even better so we booked flights to Orlando and an apartment just off of International Drive. We initially planned to visit the Magic Kingdom and Animal Kingdom for a day each and maybe one of the water parks and then see what J thought of the whole Disney experience and go back if he liked it. What I hadn’t fully appreciated when we booked the flights was how expensive a day pass to Disney World is!

Disney Memories

We are off to Forida in a couple of months and I am very excited! I have been to the Sunshine State twice previously and have been looking forward to going back. The first time I went as a teen to Orlando with my family and it was all about the Disney and Universal theme parks and cheap shopping. The second time I went with now hubby and we travelled around visiting Miami Beach, the Everglades, Disney and Kennedy Space Station. On this holiday it will be mostly all about J and what he wants to do, but I am determined to make a trip over to the Gulf Coast while we are there too (which J will love too). As we have been ensuring we are all prepared for our holiday I have been thinking back to my previous trips and I thought I would share my favourite Disney memories from my previous trips.
